Community Needs Assessments
River Hills conducts annual Needs Assessments for the communities in the region. The Needs Assessments are completed with the input of local officials and are designed to outline the communities current economic and community development projects.
The projects are prioritized by the community and are included in the District's Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). Inclusion in the CEDS allows the District and the communities to maintain eligibility to receive funding from federal programs through the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA).
The Needs Assessments are also used as justification for project development and funding from numerous other State and Federal Agencies including: the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the State Office of Community and Rural Affairs, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and many more.
